Monday: Market in Calviá

The most traditional and oldest market is held every Monday in the town of Calvià, the oldest town in the commune. It has more than 60 stands, located along “Calle Mayor” among which stand out food, clothes, shoes and handicrafts. The market is located near to the parish church of San Juan, whose construction concluded at the end of the 19th century. Other buildings of interest are the Consistorial House, Can Verger and Sa Capelleta, besides the traditional Mallorcan houses.

Tuesday: Market in Paguera

Launched in February 2014, it began with 150 stands and had a great success for tourists and residents.

It is held every Tuesday in the area between the roundabout of Casa Pepe and Mercadona. Although it has kept its original charm, the number of stands has recently being reduced. You will find a great variety of traditional handicraft, typical food made in the island, fresh vegetables and fruits and ecological products.

We recommend you try the typical Majorcan “empanadas.”  (It is similar to a small circle shape meat pie with peas and island made sausage)

Wednesday: Market in Andraxt

Andratx’s weekly market is a must…..it takes place every Wednesday of the month, except holidays, on the streets of “Paseo Son Mas”

Although lately, the number of visitors has not been the same, we must say this market stands up by its history as it has been going since 1950. One important details: It has not always been on the same place, previously it was on a public building, located at the “Plaza España” until 1970 when it was moved to its currently location: “El Paseo de Son Mas”

Here you will find a great variety of fresh products such as: fruits, vegetables, Majorcan sausages, sweets, local handicrafts, leather, ceramics, flowers, clothes and much more Majorcan typical products.

Thursday: Market in Palma “Pera Garau”

This Market is one of the oldest in town, like “Plaza de Abastos” and it has been going on since 1943. Currently it features more than 100 stands distributed along the 1000 square meters of the market that mostly covers fresh and season products sales and local delicatessen.

However what makes it so special, is its outside street-market set on the square of the same name,  on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays with a great number of visitors and around 200 stands distributed on a multicultural neighborhood. This is the only Flea Market in Palma where you can buy live animals as well as clothes and bags, etc, etc.

Saturdays: Market in Son Bugadelles (Santa Ponça)

It is, without doubts, the most peculiar from Calvia, located in the “Son Bugadelles Poligono” where it was moved from Magalluf due to the great number of visitors and sales stand. It shows every Saturday and you will find all kinds of second hand stuff such as antiques, stamps, coin collections, furniture, second hand clothes, etc, etc. Also this market is a high value for the commune because it donates part of the money raised to “Proyecto Home” a nonprofit organization who helps ex-drug addicts to be reinstate into social live and activities and collaborate with City Council.

Sundays: Market in Santa María del Camí

No matter the weather looks like: sunny or cold, rainy or not, every Sunday morning takes place in the Nova Square, Santa Maria del Cami Markets. It origins goes back to the time when the peasants came to Mass at the local Church, named “Iglesia de Santa María” and take the opportunity to sell their local goods or products in the town square.

Without doubts it is considered one of the best markets on the island and due to its reach and variety of products. It is worth to point out the area dedicated to art, local handicrafts, etc, etc Also there is another area, dedicated to organic local products, and to improve the sale of second hand items and products, handicrafts, etc, etc, etc. With more than 500 stands, you would find fresh fruits, vegetables, legume, seeds, pets, shoes, clothes, perfumes, flores, etc, etc, etc.
